How to specify the correct path in the embedding code of the SWFs

Generally, you must know that the path of the assets the SWF uses (the path of the images or videos specified in the XML file and the path of the XML files themselves) must be relative to the path of the HTML file which embeds the SWF file (and not relative to the SWF file - a common confusion).

If the folder path of the HTML differs from the product’s folder path (the folder in which the XML files and images or videos are located) then you must specify that path as value for the base attribute.

This is an example for 3D Banner FX (replace the product's name if you're using a different one):

- the index.html file is located at this address on your domain: http://www.yourdomain.com/index.html

- the swfobject.js file is located at this address: http://www.yourdomain.com/Banner/swfobject.js

- the product's files (XMLs, assets and images) are located in the Banner folder: http://www.yourdomain.com/Banner/

- the 3DBannerFX.swf file is located in the product's folder: http://www.yourdomain.com/Banner/3DBannerFX.swf

This is the embedding code you have to use:

<div id="Div3DBannerFX"></div>
<script type="text/javascript" src="Banner/swfobject.js"></script> //specify the folder's name here
<script type="text/javascript">
 var flashvars = {};
 var params = {};
 params.base = "Banner/"; //specify the folder's name here
 params.scale = "noscale";
 params.salign = "tl";
 params.wmode = "transparent";
 params.allowFullScreen = "true";
 params.allowScriptAccess = "always";
 swfobject.embedSWF("Banner/3DBannerFX.swf", "Div3DBannerFX", "600", "374", "9.0.0", false, flashvars, params); //specify the folder's name here
</script>

You can also use absolute paths like in this example:

params.base = "http://www.yourdomain.com/Banner/";

In case you used a different folder name don't forget to replace in all locations the Banner name with the name of your folder.

Note: there are three different locations in the embedding code where you have to specify the product's folder name so make sure you update all of them.

Hi,

I actually wanted to embed the flash into a textbox in ning webpage. At the moment I just can’t figure out how I can link it to my assets folder which I’d saved on the desktop.
Is it possible to do it?

The second question is, how do I change the contents to be displayed? Like I have a couple of different RSS feed links and I would like the flash to display the contents it retrieved from those feeds.

Thanks a lot. :)

FlashXML Support

Hi,

You can’t load the local assets from your webpage using our Flash Components. Please follow the instructions for installing any of our Flash components in a General Website.

For your second question here are the links to our Flash Components that use RSS feeds, News Reader FX and News Ticker FX

Hi,

The folderPath of your embedded 3D Carousel Menu is set wrong.
This is how you should do it:

flashvars.folderPath = "v/";

And there is no need to set the settings.xml if the folderPath is set.

Hi, I am looking at a new CMS for my website and I need to know if it is possible to embed your products in my website with this new CMS. They gave me a link to this page: http://success.hubspot.com/cms-extras/flash-embed-code-generator but I don’t how to use it with your products. Is this something you can help with?

FlashXML Support

Hi,

You should add the path to the SWF of the product you want to use and also the flashvars.folderPath attribute with the path to the rest of the files, like in this article.

I have been in search of such a product for some time. I am pleased to find it. Do I have to own the Flash program to use this? I want to make sure it works as I need before I purchase.

I think I know how to place the component on my page. In my site building program (Yahoo Site builder) I can see the images when I “Preview in Browser”. However, when I upload the page to my site, the images do not appear. However, the box that would contain the pics and the water mark appear.

Hi,

You’re trying to use image 01.jpg, as specified in the images.xml file but your image is called 01.JPG. There is a difference between 01.jpg and 01.JPG. Try changing the extension and it should work.
