How to specify the correct path in the embedding code of the SWFs

Generally, you must know that the path of the assets the SWF uses (the path of the images or videos specified in the XML file and the path of the XML files themselves) must be relative to the path of the HTML file which embeds the SWF file (and not relative to the SWF file - a common confusion).

If the folder path of the HTML differs from the product’s folder path (the folder in which the XML files and images or videos are located) then you must specify that path as value for the base attribute.

This is an example for 3D Banner FX (replace the product's name if you're using a different one):

- the index.html file is located at this address on your domain: http://www.yourdomain.com/index.html

- the swfobject.js file is located at this address: http://www.yourdomain.com/Banner/swfobject.js

- the product's files (XMLs, assets and images) are located in the Banner folder: http://www.yourdomain.com/Banner/

- the 3DBannerFX.swf file is located in the product's folder: http://www.yourdomain.com/Banner/3DBannerFX.swf

This is the embedding code you have to use:

//specify the folder's name here

You can also use absolute paths like in this example:

params.base = "http://www.yourdomain.com/Banner/";

In case you used a different folder name don't forget to replace in all locations the Banner name with the name of your folder.

Note: there are three different locations in the embedding code where you have to specify the product's folder name so make sure you update all of them.

Hi,

Just add the tag
” before the code in the body of the html page. After the div in the body, just add
to make it stop centering objects. This example code is for Polaroid Gallery but the syntax is similar for all the other components.Your code should look like this:

Also it seems to be the subtitleURL. Anytime I switch it to this: <subtitleURL value=”“/> it stops working. I’d be happy to make a subtitle file and trick it by leaving it empty. I don’t know how to however. Thanks.

FlashXML Support

Hi,

If you don’t use subtitles then just remove the <Subtitle_CSS_Url> section in the settings.xml. This removes all possibilities of subtitles in the video player.

Thanks for the help. What part do I remove if i don’t want the description? <infoTitle><infoTitle>text in description</infoTitle></infoTitle>

FlashXML Support

Hi,

Any text that is between the 4 brackets [[ ]].
e.g:

 TEXT_from_HERE

If I remove any of the tags in the media.xml file my movie will not play. I know this is the issue because when I readd them to the file, my movie works correctly.

I do not want the Watermark, Description or Subtitles tags. I only want to use the URL value, Startimage, infoThumb, and infoTitle tags. How can I get this to work. Thanks!

HELP PLEASE!

FlashXML Support

Hi,

You just have to set the value of each tag to “”. So from

<watermark value="assets/watermark/oscar.png"/>
you will have
<watermark value=""/>
. You need to do this for all the tags you don’t want to show. If you just delete the tags, the player will not open.

I am having trouble with the image path. I am sure I am following the instructions but obviously something is wrong.
Which file I’m I adding this line to: flashvars.folderPath = “my_path”;

the page that I want the component to display or the index.html page ?

I have tried both with no results.

FlashXML Support

Hi,

The flashvars.folderPath = “my_path”; is used to indicate the folder where you have the component. For example if your component is in the folder AddOns – Components – 3dCarousel you will have a line like this

flashvars.folderPath = “/AddOns/Components/3dCarousel"

If the component is exactly where the pages is than you don’t need this line, as the component automatically searches in the folder with your .html page.
