How to specify the correct path in the embedding code of the SWFs

Generally, you must know that the path of the assets the SWF uses (the path of the images or videos specified in the XML file and the path of the XML files themselves) must be relative to the path of the HTML file which embeds the SWF file (and not relative to the SWF file - a common confusion).

If the folder path of the HTML differs from the product’s folder path (the folder in which the XML files and images or videos are located) then you must specify that path as value for the base attribute.

This is an example for 3D Banner FX (replace the product's name if you're using a different one):

- the index.html file is located at this address on your domain:

- the swfobject.js file is located at this address:

- the product's files (XMLs, assets and images) are located in the Banner folder:

- the 3DBannerFX.swf file is located in the product's folder:

This is the embedding code you have to use:

<div id="Div3DBannerFX"></div>
<script type="text/javascript" src="Banner/swfobject.js"></script> //specify the folder's name here
<script type="text/javascript">
 var flashvars = {};
 var params = {};
 params.base = "Banner/"; //specify the folder's name here
 params.scale = "noscale";
 params.salign = "tl";
 params.wmode = "transparent";
 params.allowFullScreen = "true";
 params.allowScriptAccess = "always";
 swfobject.embedSWF("Banner/3DBannerFX.swf", "Div3DBannerFX", "600", "374", "9.0.0", false, flashvars, params); //specify the folder's name here

You can also use absolute paths like in this example:

params.base = "";

In case you used a different folder name don't forget to replace in all locations the Banner name with the name of your folder.

Note: there are three different locations in the embedding code where you have to specify the product's folder name so make sure you update all of them.

I have now updated it using the first skin and modifying it the way I want it to look…

Again the generic page loads with only the menu bar at the bottom and does not load anything else

I have been modifying the sizes as well thinking that may be an issue for the main page but nothing seems to work so far

Please help when you can

I purchased the PhotoGallery FX and when uploaded the page is blank apart from the “get adobe flash player” button. I have uploaded all files to a directory named PG. I am using the 3rd skin and used the online code generator to use the 3rd skin, modifying the settings.xml files as required.

The code in the head is
<script type=“text/javascript” src=“swfobject.js”></script> <script type=“text/javascript”> var flashvars = {}; flashvars.folderPath = “PG/”; var params = {}; params.scale = “noscale”; params.salign = “tl”; params.wmode = “transparent”; params.allowfullscreen = “true”; var attributes = {}; swfobject.embedSWF(“PG/PhotoGalleryFX.swf”, “PhotoGalleryFXDiv”, “100%”, “100%”, “9.0.0”, false, flashvars, params, attributes); </script> <style type=“text/css”> html, body , #PhotoGalleryFXDiv { margin: 0; padding: 0; height: 100%; } #PhotoGalleryFXDiv { float: left; } </style>

and I want to have the script in a table on the left next to clients details, the code I put in was
<div id=“PhotoGalleryFXDiv”>
<a href=“”>
<img src=“” alt=“Get Adobe Flash player” /></a>

Please let me know what I have done incorrectly… I have loaded the generic index page supplied to the directory but only the thumbs come up and not the larger images

Hi. I’m working on a website
my index.html file is located at :
the swf im reading is located at.
the xml file i want it to read is at.
the swfobject is located at

In my <head> tag im using this coding currently.

<script type=“text/javascript” src=“swfobject/swfobject.js”></script>
<script type=“text/javascript”>
var flashvars = {};
flashvars.folderPath = “”;
var params = {};
params.scale = “exactfit”;
params.salign = “tc”;
params.wmode = “transparent”;
var attributes = {};swfobject.embedSWF(“”, “dropdownDiv”, “100%”, “100%”, “9.0.0”, false, flashvars, params, attributes);</script>
i do realise the 100%‘s is kinda random and prolly doesnt work here but bare in mind, the menu is working if i put my dropdown.xml into the same folder as index.html.

in my body tag, im running this coding.

<tr><td valign=“top” colspan=“2” height=“40px” width=“100%” style=“filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Gradient(endColorstr=’#8590ab’, startColorstr=’#a00000’, gradientType=‘0’);”>
<div id=“Layer1” style=“position:absolute; left:auto; top:auto; width:100%; height:520px; z-index:2; overflow: hidden;”>
<div id=“dropdownDiv”><a href=“”> <img src=“” alt=“Get Adobe Flash player” /> </a> </div>

Basically the SWF is running in a table with double layers in order to make the menu drop over my background and text. It works perfectly when the dropdown.xml is in the same folder as the index.html but i don’t want to have to have serperate xml files per webpage i make in a different folder.

so basically what i’m asking, is, if im missing something since when i try to make the dropdown.swf read the dropdown.xml in /menu/ it does not, no matter what i try.

Thanks in advance, Chris.

P.S. currently the menu with be working because of the fact that i have the xml file in the same file as the index.html if you want me to remove this (its a copy, theres still one in the menu folder) please contact me and i will do so.

Thanks for your quick answer. I put in everything excately as you told me to do. But still no image scrolling or graphic elements show in the file. Just to confirm I got you right: I worked in the html file which includes the <div id=“ImageScrollerFXDiv”></div> . This file is now located in the main folder (F./bhpimfokus) of my website und is renamed index.html. The “old” index.html (which came with the download) is still untouched in the folder with all the other ImageScrollerFX components.
Help please, where is the mistake?
Regards, Barbara
