How to specify the correct path in the embedding code of the SWFs

Generally, you must know that the path of the assets the SWF uses (the path of the images or videos specified in the XML file and the path of the XML files themselves) must be relative to the path of the HTML file which embeds the SWF file (and not relative to the SWF file - a common confusion).

If the folder path of the HTML differs from the product’s folder path (the folder in which the XML files and images or videos are located) then you must specify that path as value for the base attribute.

This is an example for 3D Banner FX (replace the product's name if you're using a different one):

- the index.html file is located at this address on your domain: http://www.yourdomain.com/index.html

- the swfobject.js file is located at this address: http://www.yourdomain.com/Banner/swfobject.js

- the product's files (XMLs, assets and images) are located in the Banner folder: http://www.yourdomain.com/Banner/

- the 3DBannerFX.swf file is located in the product's folder: http://www.yourdomain.com/Banner/3DBannerFX.swf

This is the embedding code you have to use:

<div id="Div3DBannerFX"></div>
<script type="text/javascript" src="Banner/swfobject.js"></script> //specify the folder's name here
<script type="text/javascript">
 var flashvars = {};
 var params = {};
 params.base = "Banner/"; //specify the folder's name here
 params.scale = "noscale";
 params.salign = "tl";
 params.wmode = "transparent";
 params.allowFullScreen = "true";
 params.allowScriptAccess = "always";
 swfobject.embedSWF("Banner/3DBannerFX.swf", "Div3DBannerFX", "600", "374", "9.0.0", false, flashvars, params); //specify the folder's name here
</script>

You can also use absolute paths like in this example:

params.base = "http://www.yourdomain.com/Banner/";

In case you used a different folder name don't forget to replace in all locations the Banner name with the name of your folder.

Note: there are three different locations in the embedding code where you have to specify the product's folder name so make sure you update all of them.

How do I publish 3D Banner FX google site?

FlashXML Support

You have to host the 3D Banner’s files on a web server and you have to make sure the files are publicly accessible. After that you could use the iframe tag to show the index.html file from the banner’s folder.

Hello.

Kindly note that I have set up the player using the Demo, downloaded the zip file, extracted it, pasted the youtube-vimeo-player folder into my project using Dreamweaver CS3. I have followed all the instructions for installing the player on webpages found at http://www.flashxml.net/youtube-vimeo-player.html#swmi-free-install. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work. When I try to preview the index.html page in any browser the result is the same. The player appears, but just tries to load something, which it never does. The player controls are not visible. Only a black rectangle with the atom animation. I have deleted and re-downloaded, cleared the cashe and everything else I can think of, but simply doesn’t work. I have not yet published my site.

Your kind assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Best regards.

Send an email to support [at] flashxml.net with the problem you’re having and attach a ZIP package with your project so we can understand why is that happening. From what you’re telling us it looks like an asset or something is missing and it doesn’t load properly.

Hello,

first of all i would like to say a huge BRAVO! for your products!
I have a small issue with the YouTube Video player, mp3 player and about form in the SO template.

I havve replaced the link(Youtube video player) and the mp3 for the playback. THe site works perfect on my pc(the pc which was used for editing the SO package). In any other pc there is no playback and the video player is loading forever but nothing plays. I have cleared the browser’s cache nad updated flash player, Java but still nothing. I did not change any of the paths(they’re as they are in the original SO template)
I’m smashing my head to find the issue.

Thank you for your time

Hi,

Please upload the template on a server and send us the link, so we can check where the problem is.

Hi,
I followed the instruction and can’t have the banner loading images in Firefox and IE in some conditions:

1) When the HTML caller code is in the same folder than the .swf file AND the path swfobject.js is just the file name, it works (http://www.calliandra-networks.com/resources/banner/banner.html)
2) When the HTML caller code is not in the same folder, it does not work (http://www.calliandra-networks.com/banner.html)

The problem does not exist on Chrome, but it exists on IE as well.

My banner.html has an absolute path defined for .swf & .js files as you suggest:
http://www.calliandra-networks.com/banner.html:
http://www.calliandra-networks.com/resources/banner/banner.html

My settings.xml has absolute path to imageXML and styleCSS:
http://www.calliandra-networks.com/resources/banner/settings.xml

My images.xml has absolute path to all images:
http://www.calliandra-networks.com/resources/banner/images.xml

The file can be reached here:
http://www.calliandra-networks.com/resources/banner/swfobject.js

It also seems that calling swfobject.js using an absolute path fail on Firefox:
http://www.calliandra-networks.com/resources/banner/banner.html

Using Firefox 10.0.2 with latest flash player.

Thanks in advance,
Martin

Hi,

If you will clear your browsers’ cache you will see that the banner doesn’t work in any browser because if you use folder path, you don’t need to specify the absolute path for images.xml and style.css in settings.xml. So, you need to open settings.xml and to change the value of imagesXML to images.xml and the value of styleCSS to style.css.

Greetings. I would like to try some of your galleries to put into the sites I design for clients, and of course your fee is a pass-through to them (with a small mark-up…)

The nature of my service is driven on using the Pagelime CMS interface to allow clients the ability to update their own content.

I need a gallery which does not care what directory I put photos in, and more importantly, how many there are.

A good example is the gallery offered by FlashNifties here: http://flashnifties.com/products/flash-media-gallery/

You have to patch the gallery with the file from their forum here:
http://www.flashnifties.com/support/viewtopic.php?id=15

I found that this allows me to create a back-end html page where I load pictures. When the Pagelime CMS publishes to the server, the images from the backend page go to the directory I have linked to the flashnifties gallery.

Your products are more impressive, and I am currently working for a upcycled clothing maker. Your carousel gallery is perfect for showing both tops and pants, but can you show me a way that my client will easily be able to update the gallery without any programming knowledge?

Thank you very much in advance for your help and time.

Regards,

Jason Harris

Hi,

Right now our galleries, as you may have already guessed, are static – they read an XML file that has a list of images and text, and then they display the images declared.
Now, if you had enough PHP scripting skill you could write your own settings.php that generates it’s own images PHP file, according to the images uploaded by your users.

If not, you could request custom work using our contact form
