Installation instructions for:

Download the image-scrolling-gallery.zip package, extract it and copy all the resulted files and folders in the same location as the web page in which you want the product to be displayed. As an alternative, you can copy all the resulted files and folders in a different folder.

From the downloaded package, the SWF file represents the actual product while the other files (XMLs, images) are the assets that the SWF file uses. A short explanation how SWFs and XMLs interacts can be found here.

Open the HTML file with a text editor (like Notepad or TextEdit) and add the following code where you want the product to be displayed:

Don't forget to replace the 600 and 400 from the swfobject.embedSWF() function above with your own width and height that you specified in the settings.xml file through componentWidth and componentHeight elements. Also, don't forget to update the paths as specified in this FAQ article if you copied the product's files in a different folder.

To use the gallery in fullscreen mode you can use the index.html file provided in the package.

CUSTOMIZATION

You can customize the Image Scrolling Gallery FX using the Live Demo above and then download the image-scrolling-gallery.zip package with the changes you've made or you can edit the settings.xml file with a text editor.

To use your own images, edit the big.xml(responsible for the bigger images) and the thumbs.xml(responsible for the smaller images) files with a text editor and define in each row the image path, the url to go to when clicking the image, the target(_self for the same browser window or _blank for a new browser window) and the text between CDATA tags.

Here's an example to add images for big.xml:

<photo image="images/big/101.jpg" url="http://www.flashxml.net">
Hello

world
</photo>

Here's an example for thumbs.xml (NOTE: you can't add url for thumbs images):

<photo image="images/thumbs/101.jpg">Hello</photo>

You can have as many images as you like. To add a new image, add a new row in the XML files.

Please visit our FAQ page for answers to common questions.

If you want to get rid of the flashxml.net label from the top-left corner visible in the free version you have to purchase the product and use the paid version instead.

You can see an example on how to add a product in your Wordpress article/page here and how to add it in your theme or as a widget here.

Make sure your Wordpress version is greater than 2.8 and your hosting provider is using PHP5.

1. There are two files to download:

    a. WordPress Plugin that you have to install and activate

    b. Free package

2. Create a new folder inside your wp-content folder called flashxml, inside this folder create a new one called image-scrolling-gallery-fx and copy the content of the free package there

3. If you copied the free package to a location different than the one above, go to Image Scrolling Gallery FX from the Settings tab in your WordPress Dashboard and update the path accordingly

4. Add [image-scrolling-gallery-fx width="600" height="400"][/image-scrolling-gallery-fx] where you want the Flash to show up in your post/page, but don't forget to replace 600 and 400 with your own width and height values

5. If you want to make the Image Scrolling Gallery FX part of your theme, edit the template files and add <?php fximagescrollinggallery_echo_embed_code(600, 400); ?> where you want it to show up

6. Customize your Image Scrolling Gallery FX using the Live Demo from the top of this page. Generate the settings.xml text and use it to overwrite wp-content/flashxml/image-scrolling-gallery-fx/settings.xml, wp-content/flashxml/image-scrolling-gallery-fx/ImageScrollerFX/settings.xml and wp-content/flashxml/image-scrolling-gallery-fx/holder/settings.xml files accordingly

7. To use your own images, upload them to wp-content/flashxml/image-scrolling-gallery-fx/images/ and update the wp-content/flashxml/image-scrolling-gallery-fx/images/thumbs.xml and wp-content/flashxml/image-scrolling-gallery-fx/images/big.xml files accordingly

No Flash support text

To support visitors without Adobe Flash Player, you can provide alternative content by adding the text between [image-scrolling-gallery-fx width="600" height="400"] and [/image-scrolling-gallery-fx]. If you made the Flash part of your theme, add the text as the third argument of the fximagescrollinggallery_echo_embed_code() function call (for example <?php fximagescrollinggallery_echo_embed_code(600, 400, "Alternative content"); ?>).

Additional settings file

To embed the Image Scrolling Gallery FX more than once, you will need another set of settings file and (probably) another set of images. Let's assume your new files are called settings2.xml. Add [image-scrolling-gallery-fx width="600" height="400" settings="settings2.xml"][/image-scrolling-gallery-fx] where you want the Flash to show up in your post/page. If you made the Flash part of your theme, add the file name as the fourth argument of the fximagescrollinggallery_echo_embed_code() function call (for example <?php fximagescrollinggallery_echo_embed_code(600, 400, "Alternative content", "settings2.xml"); ?>).

Change WMODE

By default, the WMODE value is transparent but you can change it to window from the Image Scrolling Gallery FX in the Settings tab in your WordPress Dashboard. For widgets, this can be done from the widget's settings. If you want to have a different WMODE value in a specific place, it can be done like this: [image-scrolling-gallery-fx width="600" height="400" wmode="window"][/image-scrolling-gallery-fx]. If you're using the PHP function, here's an example on: <?php fximagescrollinggallery_echo_embed_code(600, 400, "", "", "window"); ?>.

Getting rid of the FlashXML.net label

To remove the FlashXML.net label from the top-left corner you'll need to buy the paid package. Once you'll do that, simply use the SWF file from the paid package to overwrite the SWF file from the wp-content/flashxml/image-scrolling-gallery-fx/ folder.

1. Download the free package. You need to host all the included files from the package on your own domain because Facebook doesn't allow file hosting.

2. Log in to your Facebook account.

3. Search for the Static HTML: iframe tabs application and select it.

4. Click on Add Static HTML to a page button and you'll be prompted for the page where you want the app to be added.

5. Once added you'll see on the left side menu of your page a new tab with a star icon called Welcome. Click on it to edit it.

6. Add the following HTML embedding code in the text field:

Don't forget to use your own URL for the product's location, name, width and height.

7. Click preview to see how it looks or save changes. The product is now added to the Welcome tab of your page.

8. Optional: To change the tab's name, called by default Welcome, edit your page, go to the Apps tab and click Edit Settings option next to the Static HTML: iframe tabs application to enter the name you want.

9. Optional: To make the tab your default landing tab (first thing your visitors see on your page) edit your page and go to the Manage Permissions tab and change the Default Landing Tab. Note that this option doesn't work with the new Timeline for pages.

Getting rid of the FlashXML.net label

To remove the FlashXML.net label from the top-left corner you'll need to buy the paid package. Once you do that, simply use the SWF file from the paid package to overwrite the SWF file from the location where you hosted all the files from the free package.

The module is used for adding the product in one or more pages in a given position (e.g. top, bottom, sidebar) while the plugin is used for adding the product inside a specific article.

You can see an example on how to install a module in your Joomla 1.5 website here, how to install a plugin in your Joomla 1.5 website here, how to install a module in your Joomla 1.6 website here and how to install a plugin in your Joomla 1.6 website here.

Make sure your Joomla version is at least 1.5 and your hosting provider is using PHP5.

Joomla Module Instructions:

1. There are two files to download (both under GPL License):

    a. Joomla Module (version 1.5 or version 1.6, 1.7 & 2.5 or version 3.x) that you have to install and enable

    b. Free package

2. Create a new folder inside your Joomla folder called flashxml, inside this folder create a new one called imagescrollinggalleryfx and copy the content of the free package there

3. If you copied the free package to a location different than the one above, update the Path from module's parameters accordingly

4. Customize your Image Scrolling Gallery FX using the Live Demo from the top of this page. Generate the settings.xml text and use it to overwrite flashxml/imagescrollinggalleryfx/settings.xml, flashxml/imagescrollinggalleryfx/ImageScrollerFX/settings.xml and flashxml/imagescrollinggalleryfx/holder/settings.xml files accordingly

Note that the Joomla Module can only be used once in your website.

Joomla Plugin Instructions:

1. There are two files to download (both under GPL License):

    a. Joomla Plugin (version 1.5 or version 1.6, 1.7 & 2.5 or version 3.x) that you have to install and enable

    b. Free package

2. Create a new folder inside your Joomla folder called flashxml, inside this folder create a new one called imagescrollinggalleryfx and copy the content of the free package there

3. If you copied the free package to a location different from the one above, update the Path from module's parameters accordingly

4. Add {imagescrollinggalleryfx width=400 height=300}{/imagescrollinggalleryfx} where you want the Flash to show up in your article, but don't forget to replace 400 and 300 with your own width and height values

6. The default name for the settings files is settings.xml, but if you want to use another files (for example settings2.xml), specify the name like this: {imagescrollinggalleryfx width=400 height=300 settings=settings2.xml}{/imagescrollinggalleryfx} where you want the component to show up in your article

No Flash support text

To support visitors without Adobe Flash Player, you can provide alternative content by adding the text between {imagescrollinggalleryfx} and {/imagescrollinggalleryfx}.

Changing WMODE

By default, the WMODE value is transparent but you can change it to window from the module/plugin's parameters. If you want to have a different WMODE value in a specific article, it can be done like this: {imagescrollinggalleryfx width=400 height=300 wmode=window}{/imagescrollinggalleryfx}.

Getting rid of the FlashXML.net label
To remove the FlashXML.net label from the top-left corner you'll need to buy the paid package.
Once you will do that, simply use the SWF file from the paid package to overwrite the SWF file from the flashxml/imagescrollinggalleryfx/ folder.

The Image Scrolling Gallery FX component is available for Flash CS4, CS5, CS5.5 and requires Flash Player 10 or later. To use this product in Flash you need the MXP file that is available only in the paid package.

You can see an example of how to install a component in Flash Professional here.

In this video you will see:
- how to create an instance of the component on the stage: from the Components panel (Ctrl+F7) drag & drop the component on the stage
- how to give a name to an instance for further use in ActionScript: click on the component instance on the stage and from the Properties panel (Ctrl+F3) enter a name in the text input
- how to access the properties of the component (read or modify) during different moments of your Flash application

Any property of the component could be accessed that way. The names of the properties are identical with the ones from the settings.xml file. The properties of the component can be any of these three types: Number, String, Boolean. We assume it’s intuitive of which type each property is.

Warning! Setting the parameters of the component in the Component Inspector window (Shift+F7) and in the same time having a settings.xml file populated with different values for each property, the properties from the settings.xml file will have priority (meaning that a parameter set in the Component Inspector will be ignored if that parameter is also defined in the XML file).

For now, this component does not dispatch events, but stay tuned for an update.

I have down loaded my licensed version of image scrolling gallery FX with the base configuration in Settings 2. The pkg index.html loads the .swf and then nothing else. I downloaded the unlicensed version and tested the base configuration using Settings 1 and it works. I swapped the 3 configuration files in Settings 2 and it fails as in my initial test. All I would like is for you to test your settings 2 configuration and advise.

Thanks.

Could you help me?
Thanks and best regards.

FlashXML Support

Hi,

We checked your website and in the embedding code you added these lines:

.testobronzo{
font: 10px Geneva, Helvetica, sans-serif;
color: rgb(184, 115, 51);

but forgot to add the ending bracket “}”. So, please add it at the end of the code lines like this:

.testobronzo{
font: 10px Geneva, Helvetica, sans-serif;
color: rgb(184, 115, 51);
                          }

Also, in holder/settings.xml you modified componentWidth and componentHeight values into 100%. Please leave them as they were when you downloaded the package:
<componentWidth value="1439"/>
    <componentHeight value="911"/>

Hello

I was not asking for support on how to install joomla plugins.

In fact I work with joomla since it was born.

Please read all my two comments bellow and please answered me
if the joomla 1.5 plugin on your web site is the updated one or not.

As you said, it was detected an error on joomla 1.5 plugin and it was fixed

Thanks again

Hi…

After fix the joomla plugin, did you upload the new one to your web site?

I’m asking because, although the module works fine, the plugin still doesn’t work.

I tried with several joomla templates.

The web site I’m working with in on a localhost XAMPP

Thanks in advance

Hello…

Before anything, congratulations for you really brilliant work.

I’m using your image scrolling gallery FX ( the free package for now ) with Joomla 1.5.22 on my localhost XMAPP .

I have some questions about it but the 1st one is definitely the most important ( for now) :

1 –
It is working well with through the module but not through plugin.
The syntax used on my joomla article is:
{imagescrollinggalleryfx width=“980” height=“640”}{/imagescrollinggalleryfx}

What is appearing in the joomla article when I click its linked menu is simply nothing,
only the article tittle is shown.

Please note the plugin is enabled and its the dimensions expressed in the syntax above
are exactly the same in the module (that is working).

Please note also that, when I click the html view of the article in joomla article editor, I can
see that what it is inside that article is exactly the syntax above ( nothing more, nothing less).

Have any idea of what is happening ?

2 – How can I link each image to a different specific part of my web site, when it is
mouse clicked (the big images, not the thumbnails)?

3 – Where and how can I edit the text of each image

4 –
I have a drop down menu at the top of my web site. When image scrolling gallery FX is displaying
through the module, as it is near the gallery it self, when I click in a menu with drop down sub menus,
part of them are displayed behind the gallery.
Have you any idea of how to solve this?

5 –
As long as I maintain the xmlflash.net watermark at the top left corner, can I use image scrolling gallery FX
on my client’s web sites?

Really lots of thanks in advance,

Miguel Garcia

FlashXML Support

Hi,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We have fixed the problem with the plugins for Joomla. You will need to download the new plugin, to uninstall the old plugin, and install the new one back into your site. This will clear all the problems relating to the plugin.

Second, you need to edit the big.XML and change the value of the URL attribute, to something like this url = “http://www.google.com”

Third, the text is editable via the big.XML and thumbs.XML. It is introduced with the CDATA tags. Just replace the text in it, leaving the
or
tags alone.

Fourth, the menu should not be doing that so could you please provide a link to the webpage where you are using the component so we can check it out, to see what’s wrong?

Fifth, as long as you are using the free version, you could use the products in your client’s sites, as they will inevitably lead back to us, just as long as you don’t pass them off as yours. If you are interested we do offer an affiliate program you can join to help promote and gain some money from advertising our components.
