How to use Fancybox with a flash component

First, download and install Fancybox (possibility to pop-up images, SWFs and HTML content) using their tutorial.

Next, in your HTML file that embeds the SWF you'll have to write the following JavaScript code between the <head> </head> tags:

<script type="text/javascript">
function LaunchFancybox(url){
$.fancybox({href:url});
}
</script>

Also, in your images.xml file at the url (or link for some components) attribute try to specify something like this:

url="javascript:LaunchFancybox('images/01.jpg')" target="_self"

Note that the Fancybox will not work if tested locally. You’ll have to test it on a HTTP server.

FlashXML Support

Hi,

I’m sorry but this script is not developed by us, so we can not give you instructions in this direction. We offer support only for how to implement fancybox into our products. However, I may recommend you to use shadowbox if you want to open a swf file.

Hi.
I have a small problem : my site under FF no problems. Regrettably by using IE, my image loaded in the fancybox displays in the background whereas my flash displays in foreground. it would have of the being the opposite because it is my flash which calls the image of the fancybox.
Somebody could say to me where from can result this error?
Thanks …

FlashXML Support

Hi,

You might be experiencing this issue because your flash’s z-index is set to high, or that you are using the wrong wmode for the SWF embedding. Please provide a link to your page to check it out.

I am working on getting my website up and running and have been using Fancybox with great success until I ran into issues with my swf files.

I’m putting together a Fancybox gallery.

I’ve added all the code and when I click on the thumbnail image, the swf file is actually loading correctly, however any background color I had in the swf file is gone (I have a movie with a blue background, but when displayed in Fancybox, the background is white). I have another movie where graphics in the animation move off the page (like someone is walking and passing objects) but when it is played in Fancybox, all of those graphics pile up on top of each other and you can see it.

Any reason why these things would be happening? As I said, the code is right and the swf files are technically displaying, but there are things displaying differently than the original swf file.

Hi,

Please tell us which of our products are you referring? Fancybox is not developed by us and we offer support just for how to integrate fancybox within our products. However, send us the link to your website and we will see if we can do something.

First of all, thank you for your quick answers!

Can I open an iframe with fancybox in 3d Carousel? (Open an image is OK)

Thank you and best regards
